Since the beginning of the year there have been five house burglaries carried out in the Middlesbrough area (Coulby Newham, Beechwood, Pallister Park & Kader) whereby the offenders have used a fishing rod or a similar instrument through the letter box to ‘fish’ for the house keys, thereby gaining access to the house and subsequently stealing the cars belonging to the occupant.

Homeowners are advised to securely hide their keys away from would be thieves.
